Young artist Roman Sakin has already appeared on the Moscow art scene with his kinetic objects (Greek kinetikos – setting in motion). The main principle that interests Sakin is the transformation of the form of moving objects. The artist calls his objects ‘Controllable Sculpture’ (C.S. in abbreviation), which is his main instrument in the study of plastic interrelations. The moving parts of C.S. demonstrate the properties of the object in space, judging by the example of simple geometric forms. Controllable Sculpture explores space, objects in space, parts of the object, proportions and movements of parts, relations of objects and man, formation of the whole from separate parts. Thus, C.S. is a sort of artistic apparatus to explore the world. Its acting principle is very simple: when the manipulators are moved, the position of parts changes. There are multiple ways to position these parts, which gives the spectator an opportunity to take part in plastic experiments of the author and feel as a creator within the exhibition project of Roman Sakin.
The exhibition at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art will show ‘Forest’, the new controllable sculpture. Twenty wooden bars hanging on fishing-lines and controlled remotely change their positions. The music book with sketches of different positions of objects presents sculpture as some kind of music notation, and makes the spectator feel the frozen melody. During the exhibition, Roman will change the positions of the sculpture parts from time to time, changing the general form of the object.
During the exhibition opening, DJ 3dwalker (Stanislav Glazov) will perform.
