The Moscow Museum of Modern Art and MMOMA «Free Workshops» School of Contemporary Art present a solo exhibition of Sasha Kochetkova «The Room for Nineteen People’». The project is part of the MMOMA Programme for Support to Young Artists.

It is natural for humanity to divide all things into public and personal, physical space and metaspace. «The Room for Nineteen People» project explores the interaction between the internal space of a person and the public space, the substance and scope of human individuality in an effort to preserve the limits of one’s own identity.

The artist’s works are devoid of an aesthetic aspect in its traditional sense. While working on them, she uses the media of spontaneous street-art (stylized images, stencils, spray paints). The characters of Sacha Kochetkova’s total installation are deformed creatures that lost their human likeness and qualities, human patterns, materialising like phantoms now on the walls of abandoned houses, now in your own apartment, now in the yard. However, it is they that are the measurement units of collective external space.
«The Room for Nineteen People» show discloses to the viewers the problem of human internal isolation and interaction with other people in a common public space.

The school offers its support to young artists at different stages of their artistic career through organizing group and solo exhibitions and acquiring their works for the museum’s collection.
